Getting Started Guide Here is a quick guide to help you setup your profile and communicate with other members of UTAtlanta.com! First thing to do is Create an account. This will bring up the Registration page. You must fill in all the required Now you're a member & can login and hob-knob with your fellow UT Alumni! So Login with the username and password you provided. You will notice the User Menu appear just above Login. Click on Your Profile. Here you can upload a picture for your profile(please upload a picture!), update your profile information, choose to receive a newsletter, and setup "connections" to communicate with other members on the site. The initial profile window is shown below: ![]()
It's all pretty intuitive .... but one thing to point out regarding editing your profile is the Additional Info tab(shown below ...this is the window that comes up when you click "Update Your Profile" above). These fields are all optional .... you don't have to fill these out - but any you do will be visible on your profile. Click the Update button when finished. ![]()
You will now have access to the Member List. It shows the complete listing of all site members in alphabetical order by last name. Scroll down to find your listing ... or you can enter a search term(last name) in the search box. Connecting with other members on the site You can setup Connections with other members and communicate with them via email or the built in Personal Messaging System. You do this by sending the other member a connection request, which they can approve or reject. To setup a Connection with another member, from the user list click on that other members Profile. Then on their Profile page click on the Connections tab and then Request Connection. Fill in a message you would like to send to them. This message is sent to their email address and to their profile (through the internal Personal Mail System). ![]()
![]()
The other member receives your request message and upon logging into their profile - will see a new entry for you in their Connections box. To approve the request they must click on the green check mark. To reject they click on the red X. If they approve your request, you will notice a similar entry for them has appeared in your box. You have setup your first connection! If they reject your connections request you will receive an email to that effect .... sorry!
You can now click on the ![]() Hope that helps! If any questions ... or suggestions about how to improve this page, you can email me - Tom, the site administrator at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
